About Me

            Jason is a multiple award - winning lighting designer and graduated from Melbourne University (Theatre Production Design) in 1995 and in 2012 studied at New York University’s Broadway Masterclass in Lighting Design and Projection gaining an internship with legendary Broadway lighting designer, Ken Billington (Chicago, Crazy For You, New York New York 2023 Tony Award Nominated) and 2023 Tony Award Winner (Sweeny Todd) Natasha Katz. 

Since then, he has been in constant demand for plays, musicals, dance and corporate events throughout Australia and overseas.              His work on KINKY BOOTS (James Terry Collective) earned him a 2023 Green Room Association Awards nomination in lighting design along with the production winning ‘Outstanding Production’ for Independent Musical Theatre. Jason has received four Tasmanian Theatre Awards for ‘Best Lighting Design or Video / Film Design Musical Theatre for PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, WE WILL ROCK YOU, MAMMA MIA and PRISCILLA.

             Critics have claimed ‘Jason’s lighting designs are of a unique impressive style never seen on any work throughout Australia’. 

             Jason is also a mentor to theatre technical and lighting design students across a number of leading performing arts institutions, Monash University, Polytechnic College (Performing Arts), University of Melbourne (Theatre Production) and in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.  Jason has an ongoing interest in architecture and architectural lighting design and luminaire design.
